Raul (Roy) G Sosa

Peacefully, on May 3, 2024, in Leakey TX, at age 75, Raul (Roy) Gonzales Sosa of Austin, TX, was called home by our Lord.

He was born on April 13, 1949, to Adolfo M. and Dolores G. Sosa in Austin, TX.

He married Tracy Kaune on April 17, 1977, and they resided in Austin, TX until moving to Leakey, TX upon retirement.

Roy owned his own remodeling business for over 10 years. His sons proudly say they learned their carpentry skills from him. “Always measure twice, cut once”. He then spent 20 years as the Construction Supervisor for Austin Community College where he retired.

He enjoyed golfing and participated in over 100 tournaments, as well as volunteered at the PAGA golf association for many years. He also continued his carpentry work as a hobby in retirement.

Roy was a caring, loving, strong person who had many friends that were very special to him. He and Tracy were known for their open-door policy, and many found peace in their home. He was well known in the community as a giver of his time to help anyone.

Roy is survived by his beloved wife Tracy K. Sosa of 47 years, his children, Cynthia and husband, Antonio, Ruben and wife, Carleen, David and Maria, his God children, Lora and Wyatt, his brothers, Samuel, Adolfo, Mark, Noel, and his sister Susanna. He leaves behind his adored 17 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son Raul, Jr., his parents, his brothers David, Paul, Charles, Ray, and sister Dolores.

The family requests those who wish to express sympathy consider making donations to the PAGA Austin Junior Golf League in Roy's name.
